Update - 30 Dec 2013 - PRTs and Oil Streaks

Trying to make the nacelles oily looking now.  There's a LOT of tweaking to be done but here's the latest layout of the stains.  This is a fairly tedious process as the nacelles are layered vector files.  I think it's worth the effort as good stains also enhance the nacelle curvature.

More to follow...

Progress pics...29 Dec 2013

Engine nacelles are being remade now. I'm planning to have a good amount of textural detail on them as I know we all look at the nacelles a great deal.  This is merely the starting point. I still have to make Power Recovery Turbines (PRTs), oil streaks etc. I'm also considering revisiting the cowlings and air intakes somehow.  The eagle-eyed Argus fans out there will also notice larger CAF roundels on the upper wings. Progress Updates...28 Dec 13

As you can probably tell, I work on this stuff early in the morning! Here's the latest progress.  I have made all-new wing and flap textures and re-mapped them to make thing easy on me.  I fully concede the roundels are too small but that's a 2 minute fix.  I also need to work the sono chutes, engine nacelles, whip antennae and horizontal stab.  I re made the wing textures to facilitate early RCAF colors down the road.  As a corrosion prevention/optics measure, the RCAF experimented with Glossy Black engine nacelles on a few aircraft (I have seen photos of 20718 and 20719 this way) and, later, neutral grey in others (20718, 20733 and others) in the 1960s. Here are the latest screen grabs.  Once I have the Mk II re-baselined, I'll get to work on early RCAF textures.  After that, I'll re-generate the Mk I (APS-20) radome for the new fuselage.

New wing flap textures...

After somewhat of a struggle with the compiler, I have resolved my latest software issue and can now proceed.  I have started re-building new flap textures...more to follow.  the initial release will be a post 1973 107xx MkII airframe.  Putting the new HD monitor Santa brought to good use!

I'm baaack!

Well...a LOT has happened since my last update. I bet you thought I was GONE FOREVER (?)...well...I'm NOT!  We moved, I have a new private sector job and a new-to-us home in the great West!

I also suffered a series of horrible PC crashes that took some of my precious sorce files to the bit bucket in the sky....no worries...I have found my most recent sources and am dusting off on the road to recovery. Thanks for the recent inquiries and the encouragement!  I was pretty much ready to toss the whole thing until a few weeks ago.

I've lost about 2 weeks of development models (which is a LOT of modelling) but I should be able to recover if my PC cooperates. I had to re-format the HDD twice! Time for a new laptop - once I free up some moolah that is.  I'll post progress pics - and back up data every single day from now on....stay tuned...ad Merry Christmas!  I also now have a corporate Facebook page for my aviation art.  Just look for 'CanadianAirforceArt' on FB.
